The lab was silent as a tomb, befitting of its new role as Allidar descended from the final step, his leather-soled boot tapping quietly against the damp stone floor. He looked around quietly, shifting the lamp in his hand along with his gaze. The lab's shelves brimmed with smooth, shiny bottles of various colors, their necks strung with colored ribbons to denote their contents. It was so much more than his father's store room. This was where the remains of hundreds had been refined and packaged for later use. It was a veritable factory of death that his father had created, manned only by one crazed and obsessed lunatic.
